Many NGOs, associations and individuals work hard to give to social, environmental or other sustainability causes. We believe that they should not only give but also receive, that society should give back to them.

This is why we are collaborating on a hackathon to support these organizations with solutions to help them focus more on delivering impact.

Community

Participating NGOs

We're gathering not for profit organizations doing work on social, environmental and economic sustainability to share their work, frustrations and goals. With this information, attendees will form teams to build solutions for the non profit of their choice.

We want to present and understand the global connection between nature and culture and communicate it vividly on a small, local scale. Our vision is a peaceful world in which different cultures cross-fertilise each other and in which nature, as the foundation for the emergence of cultures, is preserved in its diversity. The Growing Cultures project aims to promote education, culture and nature conservation.

The Nightline Leipzig is a helpline with late office hours. It is an offer for students by students. We are all volunteers and offer our service five days a week during the semester. Whether lovesickness, panic attacks or dropping out of studies, we have a sympathetic ear for everyone.

FAQ

Is there a Code of Conduct?

Yes, you can find it HERE. If a Code of Conduct incident happens to you, or you witness it happening to someone else, please contact the CoC team immediately either in person, or by sending an email to leipzig+coc@opentechschool.org

Will the venue be open overnight?

No, but the venue will be open until late for hackathon participants to support the event. We recommend that everyone keeps their batteries well charged.

I can’t stay the whole time, can I still participate?

Of course! We realize that a weekend is a long time and people may need to attend to other commitments. We do, however, strongly encourage you to be present on Friday to see the NGOs pitch ideas and find a team.

What if I don't know how to code?

You are still welcome! We have several challenges that don’t require any coding skills. As long as you come willing to learn and contribute ideas.

What do I bring?

Bring your laptop, mobile phone, scratch paper and curiousity. We will provide some food, some drinks, wi-fi, power and challenges.

Who made these cute graphics on the page?

Elli. Many thanks!

I have another question, how can I contact you?

Just send us an email.
